Child safety is really important because
- all Children and Young People have the right to feel safe and protected from all forms of child abuse, grooming and sexual misconduct;
- all Children and Young People have the right to take part in cricket in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment;
- all Children and Young People should expect that they can play our sport free from any form of prohibited conduct; and
- all Children and Young People should feel empowered to act and respond to behaviour that is not acceptable or that is inappropriate.
- The key points we want you to note are
- everyone involved in our Club plays a role in protecting Children and Young People;
- providing a child-safe environment at our Club is not someone else’s responsibility: all of us have to strive to make our Club a child-safe organisation;
- child safety is not just about preventing criminal offences such as child abuse, grooming or sexual misconduct: it is also about preventing inappropriate conduct (including conduct that is objectively age-inappropriate) and conduct that places any Child or Young Person at risk of harm; and
- the Child Safety Framework that the Club has endorsed includes important guidance on matters such as transporting Children and Young People; being in change rooms with Children and Young People; photographing Children and Young People; online communication with Children and Young People; and physical contact with Children and Young People.
